CQ Today: Reid Highlights Busy Agenda in Push to August Recess
Excerpt: “Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that once the Senate gets through a busy work period before the July Fourth recess, votes will occur virtually every day through Aug. 7, as lawmakers push through stacks of bills before the August recess...The chamber...needs to finish the tobacco regulation bill (HR 1256), he said, as well as legislation intended to help attract more foreign tourists to the United States (S 1023).
That bill would create a new “Corporation for Travel Promotion,” a nonprofit corporation tasked with finding ways to reverse the decline in tourist traffic to the United States. The Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee approved it by voice vote May 20.” |
