Orlando Sentinel: National Advertising Campaign Gets a Boost in Congress
Excerpt: One of the national tourism industry's long running goals in Congress took a step forward today. The U.S. Senate's Committee on Commerce, Science & Transportation approved the 'Travel Promotion Act of 2009,' which would create an up to $200 million-a-year advertising campaign aimed at luring more tourists from overseas. The advertising would be financed by a $10 fee levied on travelers visiting the U.S. from countries where they do not have to obtain a visa.
